The Scout Center Blidingsholm includes a farm, about 7 km up north, whose land is located directly on the banks of the Åsnen Lake.
It takes about half a days tour to reach by canoe from Blidingsholm. The shore of the Outback Camp Fålaboda has a beautiful swimming area and a canoe bearing point. On the shore of the camp site we have prepared firewood, fireplaces, kitchen facilities and toilets. Accommodations are also available here.
The farm Fålaboda
At a distance of about 1 km from the shore lies the farm Fålaboda. Here in the big barns, lodgings have been arranged.
Both the lodgings at the farm house and the canoe accommodation place at Fålaboda can be reached by car. Please ask at Blidingsholm or at the Scout Office if you have further questions.
Two nights free of charge
Fålaboda is free for your group for one or two nights, if they are checked in at Blidingsholm.
No overnight checks
As long as you are on Fålaboda, you do not need any overnight checks for accommodation places along lake Åsnen, You are also welcome to go for hikes or cycling tours and use Fålaboda as a base.
Further tours – overnight
From Fålaboda as a base camp, you can take day trips out on the lake Åsnen by Canoe. As long as you stay on Fålaboda over night, you do not require overnight checks to stop at the lodging places at Lake Åsnen. You are also welcome to walk or cycle on hikes. Canoe groups with more than two canoes may not raise their tents and stay over night according to the ancient Swedish law: “The All Mans Right”. But they can camp out on the prepared canoe stops (lodging places) marked on the canoe map. In these places you are allowed to light an open fire. Also available here are toilets, drinking water and firewood. For use of these places if you want to stay overnight, you must buy overnight checks in the Scout Office per canoe and night for about 40:- crowns. The owner of the place comes every night to pick these checks up. Bird sanctuaries must be observed! Rowing boats, especially for fishing, are also available at the Blidingsholm Canoe Base.
On the banks of Mörrum and The Lake Åsnen there is a total fire ban. You may cook only on gas or alcohol stoves. In the houses and in the wilderness/woods, no smoking is allowed because of the great fire hazard.
Before leaving the Camp Places should be cleaned and return to the state in which they were found. The houses must be cleared out and cleaned (wed-dried with mop and rags) by the guests themselves.
We are confident that this further opportunity to explore the nature reserve lake Åsnen by canoe, by bike or on foot, is a great enrichment and adventure for your young summer camp scouts and that the experience will be long remembered.
At Fålaboda our Scout guests may go fishing, but only with fishing permits. Fishing permits are available at the Scout Office
